David Zhou

David migrated to Australia after he successful completed his Master of Engineering Studies Degree at The University of Auckland, New Zealand in 2001. David is a professional engineer with over 20 years of building industrial experience, in Australia and internationally.

Major Achievements:

Over the last six years, David has worked for a Civil and Structural Consulting Firm as a principle Consulting engineer, and completed more than 150 projects , ranging from residential extension, alterations, new apartment developments, commercial buildings, light industry structural development projects, structural remedial design and large-scale retaining wall project.

1.             Age Care center in #14 Clements Street, Drumoyne, This is 4-storeys building with transfers flat plate slab structural system including low ground floor and basement car park, pile footing. Each floor appromix
1500sqm with different function room. Use RAPT software for the concrete slab design analyses. I involved this project from initial concept design to final completion of the project including site inspection through out every construction stage.

#20-24 Sailors Bay Road, Northbridge. This is 3-storeys plus basement car park in total 28 units residential apartment. This residential compass comprised two single structural blocks above basement car park that two blocks were connected with bridge (walkway) from first floor up to top floor. I involved this project in middle of design process my responsible was revising previously engineering design, provided detailing and site inspection through the each construction stage.

Summer Hills village shopping mall. This was a steel framed commercial project located in a high-density residential area. The requirement of this project was needed in provide many details drawings to ensuring the existing structure such boundary walls, Sydney water sewer pipe line, etc being protected at the basement and footing construction period, and also have to considered the connection details for the future development up to 3 levels underground car-park, I designed the deep bored pile retaining wall to resist lateral loading during the footing construction. My activity was from initial concept design to final completion of the project including site inspection through out every construction stage.

Wentworth Street, Wentworth, this is 4-storeys plus large opening basement car park in total 32 units residential apartment. I involved this project from the architect set up master plan stage to the completion of structural documentations. I provided engineering solutions to the architect during the initial concept design to ensuring the architect be able to synthesize and coordinate architectural, engineering and construction issues within the design process, our clients thus gain a best design resolution with cost effectiveness and high quality design documentation for the project.

Asian food market, Blacktown. This project is first floor addition and alteration. I designed the reinforced concrete floor slab for the first floor and steel framed structure for the first floor wall and roof thus to minimize the extra loading to impair the structural integrity of the existing structure. I also used remedial design knowledge partially to apply to the existing structure.

6.             Botanic Gardens, Sydney. This is structural remedy detailing design project. I involved prepare site investigating report, review all existing structures were conformed to Australia standard and BCA, and provided detailing drawings for the remedies work.

The retaining wall design of North rocks park, Baulkham Hill. This project involved large reinforced concrete block retaining wall and pile footing design to resist the potential risky of the land moving, total length of retaining wall is more than 100 meter. I also provided an estimate for tender service for the Baulkham hill council.

Port Macquarie ambulance center, this project involved steel port frame analysis and steel connection details design and documentation.

Engineering services for the local council, such as public awnings, park facilities and buildings inspection and dilapidation report and estimate for tender.

10.         Variety of house addition and alteration of structural design and documentations, including low-rise apartment Design, new architectural luxury house design (construction value over a million dollars), area though over in most expensive of Sydney, for example Beveller Hill, North Bridge, Kirribilly, Strathfield etc. also involved site inspection and issue structural inspection report and certificate to those projects.
